Economic Development Programs
The aim is to help individual families or cooperative groups to start, or to expand, an agricultural or commercial enterprise and so give a boost to the economy of the area. The loans are paid back regularly, bit by bit, to the Children’s Home.
S.T.S Uganda runs one chicken projects to help with this:
“Yibba Youth Poultry Keeping Group” has 22 members. They are either elderly or very poor or both and many are looking after children. In 2014 2 hens were given to each family. And the they organized themselves into 11 groups, around their villages and neighbours.
Members of the Yibba and members of the Mijale Women’s Group have formed a class which runs twice weekly. They are learning how to make clothes for their children and themselves. This has brought on board school drop outs due to early pregnancy, drug abuse and lack of school fees.
There is a plan to Market the products to the tourist centres in kampala and create Craft centre for the member in Arua town.
If you want to sponsor a child please write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will contact you as soon as possible, many thanks.
